“We were very fortunate to have been introduced to Trey and Lewis Coastal Homes through our real estate agent from whom we bought the lot. Trey and his team kept the building process very smooth every step of the way. We were particularly impressed by his ability to stay not only on but ahead of schedule, completing the entire project in 8 months. Lewis Coastal Homes demonstrated professionalism and a very high degree of work ethic. The home exudes quality craftmanship.”
“Just posting a post build recommendation for Trey Lewis and Lewis Coastal Homes. My wife and I are thrilled with our home and our ongoing relationship with Trey and his team. From the start Trey was engaging and made the build process incredibly easy. We live in Chicago land, and I can be a bit of a control freak, so I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the thought of building a home so far away. He understood that apprehension and was shockingly anticipatory of our needs.”
If you’re wondering whether there are still many custom home builders with ethics and integrity, Trey Lewis and Lewis Coastal Homes and Renovations LLC will help restore your faith. Building a home for the first time, and from completely across the country, was often a stressful experience. Trey and his brother, Cole, sincerely understood and appreciated that fact, and could not have been more helpful, patient, respectful and accommodating. It cannot be overstated how important it is to avoid a nightmare by having a dream team construct your dream home, especially from a distance! Whenever I hesitated to make yet another change or request, (of which there were many due to a bad and expensive start with a different builder), Trey and Cole Lewis invariably responded with a sincerely positive, can-do attitude and significant effort to bring my vision to life.
When budgeting or permitting laws didn’t align with the design, Trey and Cole worked hard to deliver acceptable compromises and workable solutions. Construction is never without its challenges and issues, so it’s imperative to employ a builder like Lewis Coastal Homes and Renovations LLC whose breadth and depth of experience, management, and problem-solving skills can help limit delays and ensure a successful build. Trey Lewis and our PM, Cole Lewis, personally guided us through the process, strengthening my decision-making confidence and often calming my nerves! Direct communication with the builders also led to greater efficiency and the detailed, expert oversight I needed.
From historic Wilmington home renovations to modern oceanfront homes, Lewis Coastal Homes truly cares about the quality of their work, which can certainly be seen on their website and social media. What you won’t see there is the builders’ principled, trustworthy character and uncompromising commitment to delivering big on your greatest investment - your home. Committed to a constant pursuit of excellence and knowledge, Trey and Cole once visited my build at the height of a recent NC storm to ensure the new sliding glass door splash guard was doing its job to protect newly installed engineered hard wood flooring. And, yes, it did!
Trust, it is said, must be earned. Trey and Cole evidently take this expression to heart, earning not only our respect, but that of our neighbors, who sincerely appreciated their job site management, work ethic and efficiency, not to mention the beautiful end result. Several neighbors have said, “If I were building a home, I would use your builder!”
“Good guys” do still exist, and they’re building some of the most aesthetically beautiful and structurally sound homes on the eastern North Carolina coast. No matter whom else you may be considering, do yourself a favor and include Lewis Coastal Home and Renovations LLC - a solid company built on skill and professional decency from foundation to finish!
It's not easy to build a new house from 650 miles away. We bought our property in Summerhouse On Everett Bay 8 years ago when there were 15 houses built with 12 under construction. When we decided to build on our property 6+ years later, there were over 500 houses built and counting. Things were certainly moving along in Summerhouse.
We did some research on builders doing work in Summerhouse, spoke to four of them and made appointments to meet them all over two days at our property which is on the intercoastal. Any builder we would chose would have to be familair with building on pilings and have experience building on the water. We stressed that with each potential builder.
When we arrived in Summerhouse, we immediately saw a few houses by the water being built in various stages by a builder not on our potential buyer list; Lewis Coastal Homes. I walked through one of their houses and was impressed with how it was being built. I was in between interviews with other builders and saw the Lewis sign at the house and called their number. Trey Lewis picked up my call and within 35 minutes he met me at the house he was building. At our initial meeting I found Trey to be personable, knowledgeable and engaged. All good traits. We walked the house and he shared with me his building techniques and answered any questions I had. And I had many. After a review of all the builders we spoke to, we quickly decided to go with Trey and Lewis Custom Homes.
My son's a house builder and I was able to have him review what materials and techniques Trey uses for houses on the water. My son was impressed with the materials how Trey's houses were being constructed. Lewis builds them correctly, adding additional panel insulation and waterproofing where other builders do not. We found Lewis Coastal Homes standard house plan to be of a much higher quality then the rest.
Trey's project manager Cole, kept us updated weekly on the progress of the house which was extremely important to us. Before we agreed to move forward with Lewis Coastal Homes, I stressed the need to communicate with us consistently as we were 650 miles away. They were both accessible and communicated with us throughout the build. Calls and text messages when needed were the norm.
We had change orders of course (lots on electric upgrades/speaker wire runs and their electrician Hugo was top notch!) and Trey and Cole had some suggestions along the way. Some suggestions we agreed to and some we passed on but each one we discussed and if there was a better option or more efficient way to address it, we moved in that direction. I never felt I was being sold something when I needed a change, I felt I was given good reasonable options. We also had changes (molding updateswe initiated as we love moldings) and they were installed as we envisioned throughout the house.
Now of course, things do come up on occasion on a project of this size, and any issues were discussed, agreed upon and addressed quickly and to our satisfaction. This is what sets good builders apart from the rest. Cole also helped with a few outside the norm items where he would check on our house during a storm, address any issues he saw when we were not present and took the initiative to address them without us asking. Case in point, at the end of the build when the house was basically complete, I was onsite and heard a banging noise during a very windy day and I sent Cole a video of it as I wasn't sure where it was coming from. Within hours, Cole was onsite, knew what is was and immediatley addressed it. Those of the esoteric things you look for in a builder and their team.
We had a very positive experience with Trey, Cole and the team at Lewis Coastal Homes. They know how to build a solid house, are open to suggestions, are able to solve problems quickly with the client's vision in mind, and are accessible and trustworthy; all which are crucial qualities needed in a homebuilder.
